What isn't clean about it.

The fuck you mean “nothing clean”. It produces a fraction of the waste of even wind turbines (those blades have to be replaced ever few months and can’t be recycled because they’re composites, they end up in land fill or burned), spent fuel can be easily recycled and used again at the same plant, and anything that can’t be re-enriched gets mixed into cement and stored in on-site storage silos until it decays into lead. Even that “smoke” coming out of the tops is pure steam; it’s probably cleaner than the water in your taps. Fucking Chernobyl is less toxic to wildlife than a lot of towns in the US. The ENTIRE scientific community agrees on the safety of nuclear plants, the only people arguing are people like you who got their info in the 90s from studies literally paid for by fossil fuel companies and just decided anything that contradicts 30-year old information must be fake. BP directly funded dozens of reports about how dangerous nuclear power is. That’s who you’re getting your outdated information about clean energy from. British Petroleum, Epson and Shell. There’s more radiation in the air around Hawaii than around a nuclear reactor; you could swim in the damn cooling pond and take a lower dose than you’d get by taking an airplane TO Hawaii.

Stop getting your information from The Simpsons and papers literally paid for by fucking BP, cuz that’s who funded all those reports about how “dangerous” nuclear power is. BP, Shell and Epson. The entire scientific community is on board with nuclear power. It’s literally cleaner than wind turbines because it doesn’t have giant pieces of plastic-plywood composites that have to be replaced every few months and can’t be recycled. Cleaner than solar because the material used to make panels is more environmentally damaging during its extraction and, again, can’t be recycled. Even the waste nuclear plants do produce either gets re-enriched for use at the same facility or melted down, mixed with cement and stored on-site until it decays into harmless material. Nuclear power is literally cleaner and safer than every other green energy source combined. Even the stuff coming out of the stacks is steam; it’s pure water, probably cleaner than what’s in your pipes. You can drink from the cooling pond and get less radiation than you pick up from a five hour flight. Source; every study NOT paid for by a fossil fuel company for the past 15 years.

⁠@@turinturambar8622 uranium extraction is less environmentally damaging than the process of extracting the materials for solar panels or manufacturing wind turbine blades, spent fuel is easily enriched at breeder plants to be re-used, you don’t HAVE to build new plants because you can use almost the exact infrastructure already existing in coal plants and even if you have to build a new plant it’s less impactful than building a high rise apartment, and what waste CAN’T be recycled gets mixed into cement and stored on-site until it naturally decays into harmless materials. Those problems are literally already dealt with. And they were never remotely as serious as the reports claimed because the reports were paid for by fossil fuel companies; is that really a trustworthy source for a report about a major competitor?
